Hair Tips to Embrace this Winter

Hair Tips to Embrace this Winter

Winter is coming and we must be mindful of hair care! Temperature drops can contribute to hair quickly losing moisture and creating extreme dryness. Without proper moisture upkeep, this can ultimately lead to split ends and breakage. During the wintertime, you want to make sure that you are stocked up on products and stay on top of your hydrating regimens if you want to maintain healthy hair. Here are a few tips to endure the season:

Remove or limit your use of heat products

Using heated tools can fry your hair causing heat damage and brittleness especially in colder weather. If you must use heat, try lowering your temperature settings and always use a heat protectant.

Try an oil-based product to lock in extra moisture

Consider adding an oil to your hydration regime. This helps with moisture retention in the hair. Oils are a sealant and locks in the product. Add an oil, like Jamaican Black Castor oil, as the last step in your moisturizing process for extra protection.

Stay consistent with trims

Keeping up with your hair trims is a great way to stay on top of any damage. You want to trim any dead or brittle ends every 4 to 6 weeks. Trimming breakage consistently allows the hair to grow healthily without worrying about dead ends splitting up the hair shaft which happens a lot to our curly and coily beauties.

Wear your natural color

As much as we love the fantasy colors, the upkeep during winter months can be hectic to our hair. Coloring hair that requires lightener dries out our hair and strips the hair from natural oils which can cause more damage. If you can’t do without the color, try a semi-permanent dye or maybe a darker color.

Wintertime can be rough to our tresses but it can be managed. If you implement some of these tips into your hair regime, we have no doubt that your hair will be just fine this upcoming season.
