Protective Styles and What You Need to Know!

Protective Styles and What You Need to Know!

Summer is here and the time is now to have all the fun in the sun! Covid-19 isn’t stopping this warm weather and nothing beats the feeling of being worry-free when it comes to your hair.

Humidity does not come to play and nobody likes to sit to the side because they don’t want to get their hair wet. 😒 Protective styles like braids, wigs and twists require very little upkeep and also promotes hair growth. While you're thinking about that cute look, make sure you keep in mind of these two important factors:

Make sure your protective style actually “protects”
Of course you want to look good but a protective style is just that—protective, so choose wisely! Protective styles limits environmental factors that can cause stress to your hair. You want to wear your hair in a style that keeps your ends tucked away. Protective styles are supposed to deter pulling and manipulation. Less tension is better.
Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize
Yes, protective styles are meant to keep your hair healthy but the key is moisture. Even when your hair is away, it is still susceptible to breakage. Lack of moisture can cause your hair to become brittle, fragile and easily damaged. While your hair is styled, you want to make sure you keep it moisturized.

My personal favorites when I'm not wearing a JLB unit are braids and twists in the summer time! Look below for some hair inspiration ✨
